Yes, a cobbler can easily alter a shoe, or pair of shoes, as described in the question.
Yes or metric. I wear a 8.5 inch shoe and a 39 in metric sizes.
The very best way to measure shoe sizes for kids would be to use any of the measuring devices at an actual shoe store. If you want to do your shopping from home, though, search the internet for "Children's Shoe Size Conversion Chart" to find a handy table that will convert measurements in inches to various different shoe sizes to help find the right pair for your child.
This might be a trick question, since shoe boxes are not designed to be water tight, so the correct answer might be that a shoe box doesn't hold any water, since it will all leak out. However, if you would like to know the volume of a shoe box, it is generally around half a gallon, although not all shoe boxes are the same size, so this can vary.
Approximately 5/16 inch between each full size. (Womens Size 8 = 9 11/16 inches and Size 9 = 10 inches)
The word shoe has one syllable.

The brake shoe with the shorter shoe material goes towards the front ( secondary ) The longer shoe braking material ( primary ) always goes to the rear Actually the short shoe is the primary shoe and the long shoe is secondary, but the short shoe does go to the front.

You should have your child walk around in a pair to test whether they are comfortable for him or her. Then you should test the length of the foot versus the shoe by using your finger to press down at the front of the shoe. If you feel their toe close to the end of the shoe then the shoe is probably too small. I would recommend leaving a half inch gap between the toe and the front of the shoe. This will allow them to have room to grow.
