I had a similar query.. talked to customer care and researched it.
Answer is - You can not!!
Reason is - Initial 4-5 numbers of your mobile represent a code of your circle. When you switch state, circle code would be different; so far such flexibility is not provided by TRAI or telephone operators.
Solution is - Opt for a roaming plan, until we have roaming free facility. Govt is working on it but similar delays (as in case of Mobile number portability) may happen. You may need to wait for a year or long.
There's no reason why not ! Mobile numbers are 'non-geographic' - meaning they're not tied to a particular town or county.

When a mobile prepaid card is purchased at the store, the computer lets the mobile provider know that someone has paid for it and they add the credit. The mobile provider keeps records of the purchased prepaid card and only prepaid cards that were paid for are activated and can be validated to install service on your mobile phone.
The S3 is currently not available on the prepaid plan for T-Mobile. You'd have to buy the unlocked version for about $550 and insert a T-Mobile prepaid SIM. The S2 is available at Walmart for prepaid T-Mobile for $299-$329.
Virgin Mobile offers better calling plans than AT&T prepaid in my opinion.
Yes,the Motorola Q9h works perfectly with a PrePaid AT&T sim card.If you purchase an unlocked Q9h a T-mobile Prepaid sim would also work but you would have to change the settings of the phone to work with T-mobile messaging and data. The Samsung Jack will also work with a prepaid AT&T sim card. If you wanted to use a T-mobile smartphone for prepaid you could use Flexpay,Phones such as the Dash 3G and many more can work through that kind of account. You would be able to talk, message and use data without any issues.
