BODMAS is just the general order of how to evaluate a math equation.

I like to remember PEMDAS (Parenthesis, Exponents, Multiplication/Division, Addition/Subtraction) but BODMAS seems better when trying to incorporate operations such as square routes as well.

BBrackets first

O

Orders (ie Powers and Square Roots, etc.)

DM

Division and Multiplication (left-to-right)

AS

Addition and Subtraction (left-to-right)

Take this problem for example:

4[6+4]/[2•2]+62-√25=?

In this case, you would start with brackets: 6+4=10 2•2=4

4•10/4+62-√25

Now onto operations: 62=36 √25=5

4•10/4+36-5

Next is multiplication/division, from left to right: 4•10=40/4=10

10+35-5

Lastly, take care of addition and subtraction, also from left to right: 10+35=45-5=40

4[6+4]/[2•2]+62-√25=40

Hope this helps, good luck!
