There are two equivalent ways
(I) Are the two ratios equivalent fractions?
If the ratios are a/b and c/d then can you find a number x such that
a = c*x and b = d*x.
so that a/b = c*x/d*x = c/d
This requires x = a/c = b/d
(II) Cross-multiply and equate.
If a/b = c/d then cross-multiplication gives ad = bc.
Also, if ad = bc then a/b = c/d (divide both sides by bd).
yes they can
Two ratios that are equivalent are said to be in proportion
A proportion
Proportion.
The simplified forms of the two ratios are the same. The cross products are the same: a/b = c/d if ad = bc
When two ratios form a proportion, the ratios are equal
Any two ratios, provided the second is not 0, form a proportion.
Proportion
yes they can
A proportion is a statement that two ratios are equal.3/4 is one ratio, so it does not form a proportion.
When both can multiply its comparisons to when both ratios share the exact same numbers.
An equation that states that two ratios are equal is a proportion.
Two ratios that are equivalent are said to be in proportion
