if the shape is drawn to scale,(on paper) then measure the two side one width one length. when uve done that, multiply together.
lets take a cube for example.
the width of one face is 5cm and the lengh is 7cm
times those together and 35cm squared is your answer.(make sure to wright squared as a small 2 at the top)
to find out the whole surface area,(of this cube)times the answer(35 in this case) by 6 (it is 6 because that is how many sides are on a cube.) your answer would be 205 cm squared
hope this helps!!!
:P
It really depends on what solid you refer to. Basically, the surface area is basically taking a shape's net and finding the area of that.
increase the surface area of a solid means to increase the area of solid
You increase the surface area
The "Surface Area" of the solid figure. Note, the word "total" in the answer above is not correct/needed - there can not be anything less than a surface area of a solid figure.
Volume is how much an object can store - like how much can you put inside a box. Surface area is the sum of the area of an objects surfaces - such as if you have a box, find the area of one side. Then you just multiply it by 6 (because a box have 6 faces) to get the total area of an object's surface.
It really depends on what solid you refer to. Basically, the surface area is basically taking a shape's net and finding the area of that.
you put: a squared over b squared = surface area of the smaller solid over surface area of the bigger solid
find area of all sides then add them
The surface area for a solid shape formed from a net is the same as the area of the net.
increase the surface area of a solid means to increase the area of solid
Oolik,k.,.
what is the surface area and volume of each solid below
Then the surface area of the solid would be measured in square feet
( 2 * pi * r^2 )* h
Each speck of the powder has a smaller surface area than the lump of solid, however the total surface area of the powder specks will be greater than that of the solid lump
find the surface area of each solid to the nearest tenth.(use n=3.14). a=10 mm b=14 mm c=14 mm
You increase the surface area
