PEMDAS, Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication and Division, and Addition and Subtraction, is a mnemonic for the order of operations in any mathematical expression, not just those in algebra.
Perhaps "Wright or Wrong: Teaching the Order of Operations" (Schrock & Morrow, 1993) is the earliest publication of the mnemonic.
The standard order of operations has been around a very long time, of course. I seem to vaguely remember this mnemonic from the 70s or 80s, but it was presented as a flawed, misleading device (e.g multiplication is really same order of precedence as division, and addition is same order of precedence as subtraction), so I never relied on it. I'm not confident in that recollection, anyway

PEMDAS is math acronym that tells you in what order to work a problem. It stands for parentheses, exponents (powers/roots), multiply, divide, add, and subtract.

Remember PEMDAS. It stands for Parenthesis,Exponents,Multiply, Divide, Addition, and finally Subtraction. If they are already in order then just start at the left and go to the right.

Math can be difficult at times. To simplify a math expression, it is important to follow the order of operations, or PEMDAS.
It's an operation that you use in math do solve problems.

PEMDAS is used for math and is normally taught at a 4th-5th grade level. PEMDAS is used to remember the order of normally a 5th grade equation: Parenthesis, Exponents, Multiplication, Division, Addition, Subtraction.
The order of steps you take in a math problem Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication, Division, Addition, Subtraction For Example: (2x3)+20-2x5, if you follow pemdas the answer is:16

It is PEMDAS in reverse order. PEMDAS is an acronym to help people remember the order in which arithmetical operations should be carried out when evaluating an expression. Parentheses Exponents Multiplication Division Addition Subtraction.
