The most common graph is the x-y scatter or line plot. The axis of the plot may be linear or logarithmic. Some examples are given in the attached link. Use of color for points and lines is common.

More complex plots may require maps, various charts, and 3D graphics. The intent should be to allow the reader to understand better the collected information.
