You don't. If you multiply a feet measurement by another feet measurement then you get square feet. for instance if you have a rectangle that is 10 feet long and 5 feet wide and you want to calculate the area then you would use the equation area=Length x width

or area = 10 feet x 5 feet => 50 square feet.
