This is how I was taught. Remember - My Kangaroo Has Dandruff, But yoU don't care much. My (Mega) Kangaroo (Kilo) Has (Hecto) Dandruff (Deca) BU (basic unit - meter, litre, gram, etc.) don't (deci) care (centi) much (milli) These are in order from largest to smallest, left to right. To convert from small to large, like cm to Km, move the decimal point one space to the left for each unit. MKHD(bu)dcm, bu counts as 1 spot. So if you have say, 112457 cm start at c and move left until you get to K. So you'll get 1.12457Km. Just do the opposite to convert from large to small 1 Km is 100,000 cm. It's really simple once you remember MKHD bu dcm. I hope this helps
