The formula for the area of a circle is:

V = pi times the radius squared. Pi equals (aproximately) 3.1415 so the area of a circle is 3.1415 X r X r and the atrea of a HALF circle would be half of that.

edit: how can a half-circle be 59 x 46 foot? it isn't a half-circle if it is uneven...

edit: you may be talking about an oval or elliptical shape. If it is a true ellipse with long radius = a and short radius = b then the area of a full ellipse = pi x a x b

If not a true ellipse your best bet would be to draw it to scale on graph paper. For example let each square on the graph paper be 1 ft. x 1 ft. After drawing as best you can then count the number of squares within your drawing. That number will be the number of sq. ft. This will be approximate because at the edges you will only have parts of squares inside your drawing so you have to estimate; .5 or .25 of a square etc. Then add these fractional parts to the total count of whole squares to get the final answer.
