You cannot. Feet is a unit of length and is one dimensional while square yards are units of area which are two dimensional. BUT to convert from sq feet to sq yards:

3 ft = 1 yard --> 1 yard/3 =ft

1 sq yard = 1 yard * yard = 1 yard**2

1 sq foot = 1 foot * foot = 1 foot**2

1 sq foot = 1/3yard *1/3yard = 1/9 yard**2
