Very interesting!

If suppose I do the experiment to find acceleration due to gravity at a place and if I get the value of g finally calculated as 9.7920 m/s2 then I give it as needed.

If I am supposed to give it only with two significant figure, then I would write g value as 9.8 m/s2

Or if it is to be with three significant figure, then I write as 9.79

Suppose, I do experiment to determine the density of a liquid. It is found to be 840.2 kg/m3

By scientific notation it could be written as 8.402 x 102 kg/m3

If it is enough to give with three significant figure then I write that one as 8.40 x 102 kg m-3

So I don't drop 0 though it does not have any value being in the second decimal place.

This is beauty of giving in significant figures

What is the 1 significant figure of 257166?

The significant figure of a number refers to the non-zero digits and any zeros that are between them or at the end of the number. In the number 257166, the first significant figure is 2, as it is the first non-zero digit in the number.

How 961 to 1 significant figure?

To express 961 to one significant figure, you round it to the nearest significant digit. The first significant digit in 961 is 9, and since the next digit (6) is 5 or greater, you round up. Therefore, 961 rounded to one significant figure is 1000.

How do you round to 3 significant figure?

To round a number to a particular digit, look at the digit immediately to the right of your target, in this case, the fourth significant figure. If that digit is 4 or lower, zero it and everything to the right of it out. If that digit is 5 or higher, increase the target digit by one and zero everything to the right of it out. If your target digit is a 9, increasing it will turn it to zero and increase the digit to the left of it by one.

What is the answer to round off the number 408.9 to 1 sf?

To round off the number 408.9 to one significant figure (sf), you look at the first non-zero digit, which is 4. The next digit is 0, which does not round the 4 up, so the rounded number is 400. Therefore, 408.9 rounded to one significant figure is 400.

How many Significant figures are in o.oo1?

The number 0.001 has one significant figure. The leading zeros before the digit "1" are not counted as significant figures, as they only serve to position the decimal point. Therefore, only the digit "1" is considered significant in this case.

How do you round 0.48 to 1 significant figure?

0.000892 to 1 significant figure is 0.0009 (1st significant figure is the first non-digit from the left, where in this case you can omit the number 2 since it will make no difference to the answer)
