Symbols can designate numbers (constance), variables, operations, functions, and other mathematical symbols, as well as punctuation, symbols of grouping, and other syntactic symbols. The use of expressions can range from the simple:

3 + 5 it is as easy as 1 2 3 but as you get older your math expressions will get harder.
