You can if you have a calculator just type in 0.03 x (your number/amount) and then press equals.

However if you don't have that capability then you can get your amount, say 500, and divide it by ten, to get 50, then divide that by ten, to get 5, then times the last result by 3, to get 15.

This is basically finding ten percent, then 1 percent then your three percent.

It works for any amount, just substitute the 0.03 for 0. then your amount (only if it is less than 100) or multiply after you have found one percent by your number.
