1917 Winchester 30-06 has a 6 digit serial number I have a Winchester 30-06 w/a 5 digit serial number 485--
I own a model '06 with a serial number in the 723xxx range. From what I understand Winchester skipped a large number of S.N. and finally ended in the 848000 range. All I have been able to find out is that they were made in 1935 or after. Hope that helps. Gary
