Just like any other average. (1) Add the times. (2) Divide the results in this case by 2, since there are 2 different times.

Here is an example: Average of 3:40 and 1:30. Adding the times, you get: 4:70. Convert 60 seconds into one minute, and add to the minutes: 5:10. Divide by 2: half of 5 is 2, remainder 1 minute. (Convert this to 60 seconds again, and add to the remaining seconds. 70 seconds / 2 = 35 seconds, so the final result is 2:35. (In this particular case, you might avoid converting 60 seconds to 1 minute and back again, and thus saved some steps. But you can't always avoid this.)
