The area formula for a parallelogram is b*h=A (base times height equals area) this worjs because if you took the angled section from one side and put it against the angled section of the other, it will actually form a regular rectangle. Another option is 1/2*Pa=A (one half times perimeter times apothem equals area, or perimeter times apothem divided by two equals area) this formula will actually work for any regular polygon, hiwever it is harder to implement.
