The average is the same as the mean. Add the numbers up then divide that number by how much numbers you started out with.

EX: Find the average. 5,6,9,4

5+6+9+4=24

24/4=6

so the average is 6 ^-^
add them all together and then divide taht total by the number of things you added together

Eg average of 3,5, 6, 7,9

is

3+5+6+7+9=30 .

30 divided by 5 = 6
