I'm guessing that the only symbol missing from the question is

the 'equals' ( = ) sign.

I think the question says that

-2x + 8 = 14 and 3x + 1 = 1 .The answer is: These are not graphable equations, because

neither describes how one number depends on another one.

" -2x + 8 = 14 " says simply that " x = -3".

And " 3x + 1 = 1 " only tells us that " x = 0".

There's nothing to be graphed in either statement.
