Best Answer

5.0

x3.5

First, multiply the bottom left number, in this case 5, by the top left number, giving you 0. Then mulitply the bottom life with the top left (equals 25).

No skip a line where you have written you answer so far and write a "0" under the digit in the tenth place. Here is what you should have so far:

5.0

x3.5

250

0

Now nultiply the 3 and 0 and 3 times 5.

Heres how you write:

5.0

x3.5

250

+1500 (now add)

1750

Now count how many places have a decimal before it. In this case, there are two numbers with a decimal before it (0 in 5.0 and 5 in 3.5)

Now move the decimal in the answer two places to the left.

1750. --> 17.50 = 17.5

The answer is 17.5i have

For me I have a simple trick...since 5=10/2,

3.5x5 = 3.5x10/2 = 35/2 = 17.5
