When rounding the nearest hundredth, count after the decimal point and if it's done with 2, look at the number next to it if the number next to it is 5 or above add one to the hundredths but if not it just remains...

Ex.

52.3265= 52.33

  • As, you see I rounded to the nearest hundredth and i came up with the answer.. Since, 6 is above 5 i add 1 on the number and i had a reasonable answer.

If you're rounding decimals, it's more likely you're rounding to hundredths, but the process of rounding is the same no matter what place you're rounding to.

Sometimes it is advantageous to express a value in round numbers. To round to a particular place, look at the digit immediately to the right of the one you want to round to. If that digit is 4, 3, 2, 1 or 0, zero it and everything to the right of it out. If that digit is 5, 6, 7, 8 or 9, increase your target digit by one and zero everything to the right of it out. If your target digit is 9, it will become a zero and increase the digit to the left of it by one.
