Let's take a number say 56. You want to round it to the nearest ten. 6 is in the ones place while 5 is in the tens place. To round a number to the nearest ten, you have to look at the number after it: 6. There is a rule you gotta remember: if the number is below 5 (e.g. 4,3,2,1,0) you change the digit to 0. I it is 5 and above (5,6,7,8,9) you gotta add one to the front number (in this case: 5) and 6 becomes 0. So in this case 56 rounded will be 60.
