Oh honey, it's not rocket science. Look at the digit in the thousands place. If it's 5 or greater, you round up; if it's less than 5, you round down. Replace all digits to the right with zeros. Boom, you've rounded to the nearest 1000. Easy peasy lemon squeezy!

If the digit in the hundreds place is 5 or more, round up to the next highest multiple of 1000. Otherwise, round down by replacing the last 3 digits before the decimal point (and any digits after the decimal point) with 0s. For example, 54,437.96 rounds down to 54,000, but 54,502.8 rounds up to 55,000.
