684/5. To do this problem by hand you use what is called "Long Division" (and more rarely called The Division Algorithm)
first ask yourself how many times 5 goes into 6, which is 1. This is the first digit of your answer (ie, 1_____.___)
here is what your work should look like so far (as good as i can make it with a keyboard, ignore the .'s they are just for formatting)
.....1
...________
5 | 684
now multiply 1 x 5 and write it below the first digit of the number being divided (684). 1 x 5 = 5. Subtract this number from 6, like so...
.....1
...._________
5 | 684
....-5
.....___
.....18
6 - 5 = 1, that is where the 1 comes from. The 8 comes from the 8 in 684, you would say "bring down the 8" on this step.
Now repeat the first step, where you asked how many times 5 goes into 6, but instead ask how many times 5 goes into 18. the answer is 3, put this number above the 8 in 684, like so:
....136.8
...________
5 |684.0
....5
....__
....18
....15
....___
......34
......30
......___
.........40
.........40
........___
..........0
I've finished the problem here, as the steps simply repeat. The only caveat is that when you get to the last digit (the 4 in the 684) and you don't get 0 after the subtraction step, then your division is not complete and you must start "adding" 0's to the number you are dividing (684 in this case). Be sure to remember to add a decimal point when you do this.
5/1035 = 1/207 = 0.004830917874396
0.0073
2.5 divied by 5 is .5 because you change 2.5 to 2.50 which is the same to get .50 or .5
0.0073
5
5
The answer is 5
63
It is: 2736/5 = 547.2
5/25 = 1/5 = 0.2
5 divided by 68 is ~0.0735294117647
5 divided by 86 is ~0.0581395348837
