The way you simplifly 3/9 is by looking at the fact that 9 can be divided by 3.
One way to do this is to write 3/3x3 and then cancel out the 3's in the numerator and denominator so you have 1/3.
The other is so say 3 goes into itself once,and into 9 three times so 3/9 is 1/3.
