Example: 20/17 minus 1 20/17 minus 17/17 3/17
you changed the 1 into a fraction, so 1 turns into 3 thirds. then you can easily subtract from 1 thirds. Then the answer would be 2/3. Your Welcome! :)
yes you can. You can add and subtract ANY number, negative or positive, even if it is a decimal. For example 1 + 1 = 2 -1+-1 = -2 -1+1 = 0 A minus plus a minus is a minus. A minus plus a positive is a minus.
There are infinitely many solutions to that. Pick any fraction. Subtract 1 minus that fraction to get the second fraction. Examples: 1/2 + 1/2 3/2 + (-1/2) 1/5 + 4/5 2/17 + 15/17 etc.
if the question u are asking is something like this 1/2 - ( - 1/2 ) then the answer is simple all you have to do is solve the equation like this 1/2 - ( - 1/2 ) = 1/2 + 1/2 = 2/2 = 1 its the - (-1/2) that is important remember the rule minus and minus equal plus plus and plus equal plus minus and plus equal minus remember and i hope it helps :)
You can subtract the bigger fraction by the smaller fraction and then put a minus sign in front of the answer.
Example: 20/17 minus 1 20/17 minus 17/17 3/17

-344
It is: 1 minus 0.03 = 0.97

Yes and it is: 2 and 1/4 minus 2 = 1/4
(-1/2) - (1/4) = -3/4 Done!

6 billion minus 1 million equals 5,999,000,000. You subtract 5,999,000,000 from 6 billion to get 1 million.
I am not quite sure what you mean with "whole fraction". If you have whole numbers, or mixed numbers, you subtract the whole part and the fractional part separately. For example: 3 3/7 minus 1 1/7 = ??? For the whole number, subtract 3 - 1 = 2. For the fractional part, subtract 3/7 - 1/7 = 2/7. If the fractional part in the first number is less than the one in the second part, subtract one to the whole part, and add the equivalent fraction (equivalent to 1) to the fractional part. Here is another example: 10 1/5 minus 2 3/5 = ??? From the first fraction, subtract one to the whole part, and add 5/5 (which is equal to one) to the fractional part, so you get: 9 6/5 minus 2 3/5 = ??? Now you can continue with the subtraction as mentioned above. The result in this example is 7 3/5. In all the examples above, I chose a common denominator; if the demoninators are not the same, converting to a common denominator is just the same as when you want to add fractions, for example.
