Well... given that percent comes from latin and roughly means per one hundred, in your case you would convert to a percentage by putting the number over 100 and then multiply by 100 [seems like a double redundancy I know, but it will make sense with other examples] (giving you 150%). However, if this was in fact a fraction (such as 2/7) you would divide the numerator by the denominator, and then multiply the answer by 100.
