To turn a mixed number into a fraction you have to :

Multiple the whole number with the denominator and add it with the numerator.

then use your new number as a numerator and your old denominator as it was.

foe example: 1 1/2 (1.5) = 3/2

(2*1+1)/2 = 3/2

or 2 1/2 (2.5) = 5/2

(2*2+1) = 5/2
