A couple ways:
- use the hyphen key (above P and to the right on a QWERTY board)
- open the character map and copy and paste
- use your system's method for entering Unicode and enter 002D.

2-(-1)= 2+1= 3 When a parenthesis is preceded by a minus sign, remove the parentheses and the minus sign before the parentheses and change the sign of each term within the parentheses. When a parenthesis (-1) is preceded by a minus sign, -(-1) remove the parentheses ( ) and the - sign before the parentheses and change the sign of each term -1 within the parentheses +1
The numerator changes sign.

Perhaps you mean minus minus one is plus one. Like subtracting (taking away) a debt is equivalent to adding on. If you bank balance is two dollars in the red (debt) if you add 2 dollars, that debt has gone. minus 2 minus minus 2 is zero, same as minus 2 plus 2 is zero.

No one invented the minus sign or at least none that we know of, it is simply part of the evolution of mathmatics. The minus sign we use appeared in the 1400s

Because one side is the positive side (+) and one side is the negative side (-) They need to be there so people can place them in correctly. On objects there is also a plus and minus sign to match with the ones on the battery. You place the end with the plus sign in to match the end with the plus sign on the object and the end with the minus sign to match the minus sign on the object. Hope this helps!
Sorry, you are not my type.

They are found on the bottom row of the keyboard - on the comma & full-stop keys respectively. Simply hold down either one of the SHIFT keys, and press whichever symbol you want.
A dollar sign has TWO lines going through it. The one on your keyboard IS NOT the dollar sign, it is another symbol called an "OFFSET" .

The plus-minus sign (±) can be used to imply plus or minus within a sum. For example, one equation reads:-b ± sqrt (b2 - 4ac)This refers to an equation with two possible solutions - that from which you use the plus sign, and that from which you use the minus sign.
A monomial is one term. There won't be a plus or minus sign.
