The method used to "work it out" is called "multiplication". Many people will tell you

that the way to do it is to use a calculator or a computer. I'm here to tell you that

that answer is like saying you should use a bus to walk to the corner store. If you

don't know how to work out 40 x 30 with a pencil and paper, then you can use

machines or other people to get an answer, but you haven't learned "how" yet.
