If you are really stuck, you could do: 1/20=0.05 2/20=1/10=0.1.....

But it's better to think of it as:

5/20=1/4

1/4 in decimal form is 0.25

SO

5/20=0.25

9/20 = 10/20 - 1/20

10/20=1/2=0.5

and

1/20 is 1/10 of 0.5 (or 0.5/10)

SO

1/20=0.05 (as I wrote at the start)

so 10/20 - 1/20 = 0.5 - 0.05 = 9/20 = 0.45

If you meant, what's 5/20 + 9/20 in decimal form, then:

5/20 + 9/20 = 14/20 = 7/10

7/10=0.7 so

5/20 + 9/20 = 0.7

A fraction is just the top number (the numerator) divided by the bottom number (the denominator). So 9/20 really means 9 divided by 20.

Hope this helped :P
