Remove the knob with a small Allen key. Underneath looks like 2 flat screwdriver slots intersecting, almost like a Phillips head, with the shaft for the knob in the middle. I find it easiest to remove with needlenose pliers. Just unscrew and the switch will come out.

I have a 1998 Jimmy SLT, automatic with floor shifter. It is easier than you might think. If you look closely on the back of the shifter knob there is a retaining pin, looks like a large brad type nail, just pry it out and lift up.
