Different brick have areas. The normal is about 3.5 per sq ft. 270 x 3.5 = 945

The brick are sold in cubes that range from 4 to 500 per cube. You have to think about a waste factor, or if your wall has details such as row locks or coins you will use more than the surface area. Unfortunately brick layers are paid by the brick... it does not bother them to waste.
