If I was solving this, I would read the problem, and I would decide a variable (like x) for our unknown. I would say that x/2, because she only has half of x is equal to 22, or x/2=22. Now I would multiply both sides by 2. With x/2 times 2/1 (which is the same thing as just 2) these twos will cancel, then we'd multiply the right side by 2, getting an answer of 44. Although this is how I would solve it, there are many other ways it could be done, just find whatever works best for you.
