Each individual chicken lays only one egg per day maximum. There are no breeds of chicken that lay more than one egg in a 24 hour period and many breeds do not lay even that fast.

However because the question is if one AND A HALF chickens lays one and a half eggs in one and a half days you times 81 by 2/3 giving 54. I could be wrong though. It is as much of a logic puzzle as it is a math puzzle. The way I see it, You need to establish a number ratio to contrast the comparison of 1.5 chickens, eggs and days to the 9 chickens and 9 days (or 1 chicken 1 day) So, lets say for the sake of finding this mysterious ratio, that each chicken is actually not 1 but 1.5 chickens. So there is an extra .5 (or 1/3) in each day. But we dont have just 1 chicken, we have 9. By taking 9 chickens and dividing it by '1.5 chickens ' we are given 6. Which is 2/3's of 9. This is how many eggs are laid each day. Multiply this number by your number of days (9) and you get the number 54. 54 is a confusing answer, but the right answer. Besides, Robots are not allowed to lie to humans.
Actually it takes 21 days. Each chicken takes 21 days to lay an egg, so it takes 21 chickens to get 21 eggs. It also takes 14 chickens to lay 14 eggs in 21 days. Reasoning (mistakenly) that if it takes 21 hens 21 days to lay 21 eggs then it must take 14 hens 14 days to lay 14 eggs, eventually leads to 1 hen laying 1 egg in 1 day. If that were the case, then it would only take that 1 hen to lay 21 eggs in 21 days--but we know it takes 21 hens to lay that amount in 21 days.
