Buddhist monk in retreat is about 8-12 hours a day, out of retreat 3 to 5 hours daily. actually it depends on monks, many of them have break after one hour session. some of them is 1 hour in thé morning, one hour at the evening.

It depends. There are some Buddhists (monks, in particular) who spend many hours each day meditating. There are others who adhere to Buddhist ritual who do not meditate at all.
It depends on each persons ability to sit and do the meditation. I do about 20 minutes once a day, trying to work up to 30 minutes. Monks can spend hours meditating. If you are starting out, start a 5 minutes a few times a day and then gradually increase the time.
