It will take 300000 btus at 12000 a ton and a ton of air will be 400 sq feet so. 10000 sq ft divided by 400 is 25 tons of air then multiply 25 times 12000 btus and you get 300000

An air conditioner cools a room by removing heat from the air inside and expelling it outside. In contrast, a refrigerator absorbs heat from inside its compartments to keep items cool, but expels this heat back into the room - causing the surrounding area to warm up.

Use more heat with window open if thermostat in another room?

To effectively heat the room with the thermostat in another room, you should keep the door to the room closed to trap the heat inside. Opening a window while using more heat could result in wasted energy as the heat will escape. Try using a space heater or a dual-zone thermostat to regulate the temperature in individual rooms accurately.
