First off I would suggest googling khan academy subtracting. There are many wonderful videos and quizes.

Now 3605 - 4100 is -495. It is a negative number. I learned a system of lining the 3605 on top, the 4100 on the bottom and line them so that tens are lined up one under the other etc. I also learned a system of borrowing one from the ten value and when using it adding it as 10 to the units if I was asked to take a large figure from a smaller figure
