Consider yourself in a cuboid room. The wall in front of you and the wall behind you are parallel planes.

There is a line on the wall behind you that goes vertically, from the floor to the ceiling. There is a line on the wall in front of you that goes horizontally from left to right.

These two lines are on parallel planes, but the lines are NOT parallel.
