β 15y agoThis is an old philosophical puzzle. In theory - and only in theory - you will never reach the door. You will always be half the distance you previosuly were. In fact you will rapidly find yourself standing so close to the door that you cannot move any further. # 8 feet # 4 feet # 2 feet # 1 foot # 6 inches # 3 inches # 1.5 inches # 0.75 inches # 0.375 inches # 0.1875 inches # 0.09375 inches .... and at that point you are less than 1/10 of an inch away. Do you think you could physically get any closer?

β 15y agoThe width of a door is the distance between the side jambs. The detail of door measurement is shown at the web link below.
meters
You are supposed to measure the "rough" opening. This is distance from the studs that line the door opening. (not from the door frame itself) Top to bottom then from side to side. If you already have a door there and are just replacing it then you can just measure the door and get one of the same size. Good luck.

It depends on whether your button is more than one block away from the entity you want to activate. If it is next to, say, a door, pressing the button will open the door without the use of redstone. If, however, you wish to distance the button from the door, then you will need a line of redstone connecting the button to the door.
There is no proper or set distance from the doorway. When roughing in a house the distance is determined on where the door framing is located and how close the next adjoining stud is. If the adjacent stud is too far away then the carpenter can install some bridging between the studs to locate the switch junction box on. Try to keep it from 150 to 300 mm, (6 to 12 inches) from the rough in door opening. The 150 mm (6 inches) allows the door casing and door trim to be installed without covering the switch box.
