Assuming a 40-hour week and 52 weeks in a year, someone making $100,000 a year would be making the equivalent of about $48 an hour.

But if your job is paying $100,000 a year, you are not working on an hourly basis. More likely you are getting paid once a month on a salary basis and you don't punch a time card. Some weeks you may be in the office less than 40 hours in a week, but lots of the time you'll be working nights and weekends and putting in far more than 40 hours a week. You'll possibly be sent on trips to attend meetings or trade shows or seminars that would take a whole lot more than 40 hours in a week.
