If it takes Jack 6 hours to mow the lawn and Mary 7 hours How long will it take if they mow the lawn together?

It stands to reason that if you have 2 people performing the labor normally performed by one, it will take half the time. Jack takes 3 hours to mow half the lawn and Mary takes 3.5 hours to mow half the lawn. Average the two (because Jack will mow more lawn than Mary will) and it will take 3.25 hours for Jack and Mary to mow the lawn together.well, theres double the help, so 6 divided by 2 equals 3. and 7 divided by 2 equals 3 1/2 So, 3+3 1/2= 6 1/2 hours.Or, if this is a trick question, Jack can mow the front lawn, while Mary mows the back lawn, it would take 7 hours. because, Jack mows the lawn, but the time still goes on, because Marys not finished, and it says "It takes MAry 7 hours".OR another answer to a trick question, JAck could be mowing the lawn, but, Marycould be with him. not mowing, just along his side. so it would take 6 hours. or vice-versa.or, a mathematical point again, 6+7=13 divided by 2 (two people) equals again, 6 1/2 hours. In Conclusion:MATHEMATICAL ANSWER: TRICK QUESTION ANSWER:6 1/2 Hours Theory 2 or 3hope i helped.

Some jobs, people charge by hours and some jobs, people charge by the work done. And how big is the yard that you are working on? If the yard is big you can charge more for your labor, and if the yard is small you can charge less. Also you can ask around for the professionals mow the lawn, to get some ideas.

What is the best height for grass in the winter?

It depends on where you live and what type of grass you have, but usually your last mowing before winter should be much shorter than previous mowings. For example, if you live in Ohio and have a Kentucky Bluegrass lawn, your last mowing of the season should be around 1 1/2 inches. Cutting it short reduces the chance of snow mold developing on the lawn over the winter months.

Why does your riding mower not mow evenly?

If you don't know how to mow a lawn, don't be discouraged: It's never too late to learn how to mow a lawn. Lawn mowing doesn't take a lot of strength or skill, and it's nice knowing you don't have to rely on someone else to do your lawn mowing for you. You just need a good lawnmower, some patience and a basic understanding of how to mow a lawn.Difficulty: EasyTime Required: 2-4 hours, depending on lawn size (includes lawnmower setup and maintenance)Here's How:Buy or borrow equipment for lawn mowing: If the lawn is less than 500 square feet, consider a reel lawnmower. They're simple to use and less noisy than gas or electric lawnmowers. For larger lawns, a powered lawnmower is faster, and its mulching options or grass catchers save time on clean up. Don't bother with a riding lawnmower unless you've got at least an acre of lawn to care for.Make sure the lawnmower is in good condition: Before you begin lawn mowing, look for obstructions in the blade area, particularly if the lawnmower was just purchased. Add a little oil to the moving parts if they feel tight. If the lawnmower is over a year old, the blades may need to be sharpened, or your lawn will look ragged after you've mowed it. Ask your local hardware store or garden center to recommend a company that sharpens lawnmower blades, if you're not confortable trying it yourself. But it's easy to learn how to sharpen lawnmower blades.Adjust wheel height: Generally, warm-season grasses are cut to a height of 1/2 inch to 1 inch, 2 inches at most. Cool-season grasses such as bluegrass and fescue thrive at a height of 2 to 3 inches. Cutting height can usually be adjusted by raising or lowering a lawnmower's wheels. The Lawn Institute's Web site offers a handy lawn-mowing chart to determine the ideal height for mowing your lawn, depending on your type of grass. Look on the side of your lawnmower to find latches or switches that allow you to adjust the height of the wheels.Clear objects and mark obstacles: Although it may seem to have little to do with learning how to mow a lawn, this can actually be one of the most important tips to take away from the article. Before you begin lawn mowing, use a lawn rake to pick up branches, loose stones, dog bones, small toys, bottles, cans or anything that might get caught in the lawnmower blades or fly out of the discharge chute at up to 200 mph to hurt you or someone else. Mark surface pipes and half-buried rocks, so you won't run into them accidentally.Mow the lawn in a pattern: Proceed back and forth - not around and around in a spiral. Move at a brisk walking pace; if you go too slowly, grass will catch and clog the blades. Consider lawn mowing to be a workout! Use a similar back-and-forth pattern if you're using a riding lawnmower, proceeding in neat, even rows. To mow around a flower bed or tree, do two laps around the obstacle, first in one direction, then the other.Use the half-pass trick: Every pass, overlap the area you've already mowed by half the width of your lawnmower. While this may seem like more work, it takes less time and energy, because the lawn-mowing movement is smoother (less grass to cut in each pass) and you will cut anything missed the first time. You won't have to go back later to trim up any rough or shaggy patches.Tidy up after lawn mowing: When you're finished, use a lawn rake to gather clippings. Clean the lawnmower blades with water (follow machine directions with a gas or electrically powered lawnmower) and squirt a little oil on the moving parts to prevent rust.Mow early and often, but mow "high": For the best possible lawn, mow early (in the morning, after dew has dried on grass) and often (once a week is best, every two weeks will do). Like other perennial plants, grasses stay healthy when only a third of new growth is removed at any given time. So mow "high": i.e., don't scalp your grass.Tips:Safety first and always is lesson #1 in learning how to mow a lawn. Never allow children to play near you when you're lawn mowing: Something might fly out of the discharge chute and strike someone. Nor should you take kids "along for the ride" on a riding lawnmower. When lawn mowing a sloping area, always mow across the slope, not up and down, to prevent accidents. The exception to this is when you're using a riding lawnmower -- then you must mow up and down the slope, to prevent the riding lawnmower from tipping over.Lawn mowing should be done when the grass is dry. You might slip on wet grass, and soggy clippings will clump and clog. Cutting damp grass also leaves it vulnerable to fungal diseases. If grass clogs the blades or discharge chute of a power lawnmower and the engine starts to sputter, turn off the engine and make sure the blades have stopped rotating before carefully raising the lawnmower to remove the debris. What You Need:LawnmowerLawn rake

Ihave a thick lawn but the grass always seems to lean and fall down so when you go to cut it it will just skim over some parts and cut twice a week WHAT DO you DO?

Sounds like the variety of grass is unhappy with your mowing height. Certain grasses, ie; bentgrass or poa trivialis, lean over at less than 2 1/2 " heights. Blue and rye grasses can maintain themselves at 3" mowing heights quite nicely. Once you have identified the grass type, the mowing height can be adjusted accordingly.

What is a good age to start cutting the lawn?

As soon as the grass gets 2 1/2 inches high. My grass grows year around so I have to mow year around. It depends on your grass and how fast it grows. Newly planted grass should not be cut until it reaches a height of at least 2 1/2 inches. Also make sure your lawn is dry before mowing. ok but when should sumone start

How do you change a tractor blade?

I assume you mean the blade on a lawn mowing tractor. You either have to drop the deck and turn it upside down or you can put the tractot on a ramp to work from underneath. I use 1 x 12 planks to push the tractor up the porch where the front tires rest on the slab.
