I'm taking it now 3rd day so not sure but from what i can see if in grade 8 your mark ranged from 75-85% with out a lot of effort your fine, other wise you may want to take applied.
It's hard to say what "grade" he is in, considering he is home schooled and the grade completion system is much different, but he just recently turned 9, so he is most likely on the 4th grade level.

if u r talking about challenges it matters.. it seriously matters in which country u r completing u r grade 9. whichever grade 9 is hard work the teacher prepare u for high scool and that won't be a pretty picture in any circumstances..... i guess u know what am trying to tell u.
