It is standard to write hrs when abbreviating hours. However if there is clear context showing that you mean hours it is often acceptable to simply use an h. For instance, in frequency or speed, you might right that someone was travelling at 100km/h. Or if giving the exact amount of time between two distant events, you could write 5d 6h 38m 12s and that would be acceptable. The problem with just using an h at other times is that h is more commonly used as an abbreviation for "height" so this can cause confusion.
