There are many things that extend beyond numerical and/or scientific parameters. For something to be measurable, there must be an agreed upon standard between two parties. For purely subjective things (emotions, for example) there is no standard convention because there cannot possibly be a standard convention.

For example, when you say you really hate/love something, how much?
Would the person standing next to you agree with your assessment?

If both you and your friend are in pain, can you compare them? Is there any way to actually compare those in an objective manner?
