A rectangular prism is any three dimensional shape with six sides where each side is identical in length and width as well as parallel to the side adjacent to it and this entire geometry is NOT a cube.

To illustrate this, you can look at most shipping boxes. Any shipping box (such as you'd see from UPS or FedEx) that is not a perfect cube, is usually a rectangular prism.
