The y intercept is the point at which x=0. so to get the y intercept sub in x=0.

you get y=5+0 which is obviously the same as y=5. so the y intercept is 5.

The x intercept is the point at which y=0. so to get the x intercept sub in y=0.

you get 0=5+4x which is the same as 4x=-5 (by subtracting 5 from both sides). therefore x=-5/4 (by dividing both sides by 4) so the x intercept is -5/4.
