To you have to know math really good to be an air traffic controler?

To be an ATC (Air Traffic Controller) you should be familiar with basic math because you essentially have to separate planes by flight levels and know how far those levels are from each other, judge speed of aircraft, and also flight levels. If anything you need to know basic math very quickly. You have to think quick because let's say you have a plane climbing out of an airport to 15,000 feet and you have another plane at level flight in the same area at 12,500. You have to tell one plane to divert to avoid a collision with the other, and remember there are real people on those planes! I would study alegebra, but especially statistics and geometry. Calculus would prove to be useless for an ATC.
