No. qualitative is the research method.
yes
Quantitative research are methodologies and reporting of numerical values, statistics and relationships to describe and model phenomena. Quantitative and qualitative procedures serve as the aid and foundation to understanding and executing the scientific method.
Qualitative research is generally based on different paradigms (pozitivist, post-pozitivist, constructivist etc.) but Quantitative research is generally based on pozitivism (or newer version of it is post -pozitivizm, for example critical realism).
Qualitative research is exploratory research used to understand things. Quantitative research is essentially an investigation using statistical or mathematical methods to understand things.
I am looking for few examples of exploratory research.
Exploratory research is when researcher little idea about topic and not applied previous theories or ideas.
Quantitative research entails collecting and generating numerical data while qualitative research entails the generation of non-numerical data. Survey, questionnaires and measurements using various tools are common in quantitative research. Qualitative research often relies on verbal and theoretical data rather than measurements. Both research designs are used in the analysis and interpretation of a research topic.
Exploratory Research also known as formulative research that focus on the discovery of ideas and insights as opposed to collecting statistically accurate data.
There are two types of market research; qualitative and quantitative. Qualitative is usually abstract and exploratory, focussing on emotive responses, whilst quantitative is more mathematically and scientifically valid for which is used for larger scale analysis, using carefully measured statistic formula. Market research is all about measuring the target markets needs desires, purchasing patterns etc.
quantitative research and qualitative research
ADVANTAGES: 1) The purpose of exploratory research is to know the unknown 2) It narrows down the scope of investigation
Qualitative research methods are used primarily as a prelude to quantitative research. They are used to define a problem, generate hypotheses, identify determinants, and develop quantitative research designs. They are inexpensive and fast. Because of the low number of respondents involved, these exploratory research methods cannot be used to generalize to the whole population. They are however, very valuable for exploring an issue and are used by almost all researchers. They can be better than quantitative research at probing below the surface for affective drives and subconscious motivations.
Exploratory research is that is in explicit in nature. And the result of this research is reliable.
