The term "hell" as used in The Bible comes from the Greek and Hebrew terms 'Sheol' and 'Hades', both which refer to the common grave of mankind (& even animals). When people go there, they simply return 'to dust', a.k.a. break down to the bare elements they were made from and cease to exist. (Ecclesiastes 3:19-20) During this breakdown process, the person knows/feels nothing, completely unconscious. (Ecclesiastes 9:5, 6 & 10) Adam and Eve both went to 'hell', sentenced to death for their act of disobedience. (Genesis 3:19)
(New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures)
Adam and Eve were the first people to go to Heaven.

Some say so. I think the threat is to dissuade people from suicide, particularly when it's the result of depression, which is treatable. Many people who do commit suicide are mentally ill and not considered responsible for their actions.
